Its gonna get a little weird, gonna get a little wild! Where to start? This show is really a big surprise from every level. You start with zero expectations and get out as an addict, believe me. It really is inspiring, how simple, silly thoughts that run through our brain can make magical stories, thats why I am always more inspired by animation and this show definitely brings out that missing crazy imagination. Just as in Alice, sometimes we want to chase the white rabbit, and Star Butterfly definitely lives in the rabbit hole and it is amazing to see a character like her, she is crazy, does the first thing she thought of without hesitation, she is the wild inner childish energy we always want to carry around and in core she is very human, like any of the characters.

And the emotions in the show are incredibly real, when Star is sad, you feel sad, empathize, and feel like you’ve been through that. That’s what makes this show special I guess, it gives you the childish hope you want to carry around everywhere and it makes you smile, in every bit of it. And then suddenly it makes you cry, the story improves radically as seasons go by, I would have never expected this much, everything connects, brings out a whole story (this is the missing ingredient in todays cartoon shows actually, they just put good characters in front of you with no logical story line that doesn’t add up).

And when the storyline is this good, there is an awesome villain, and even the side characters are so lovable and have solid backstories, it just makes itself watch. Here, I can’t continue without talking about Glasoric, maybe the funniest character of the show, everytime he appears I am like, what nonsense you are gonna glabgore this time? And every single time he doesn’t make any sense, but maybe he does?

And of course, this cannot end without mentioning Marco, see even when I am writing about them they make me smile, so thanks for that, thanks for the hope and smiles; anywho, Marco. He is the living version of the word adorable. His interactions with Star is so much fun to watch.

Also the art of the show is amazing, if you are a 2D animation fan like me and unable to find any clever 2D animated show to watch, this is the thing you are looking for, it definitely is a well craftsmanship. And the voice acting, you know how important it is for a cartoon show to have good voice acting to make the characters come alive, in this show, you have it all, Star and Marco’s voices are the walking version of their personality.

Songs are also worth mentioning, blood moon ball piano solo was really amazing and Patrick Strump of Fall Out Boy sings a song for the show. Before I finish this little review, I will talk about Eclipsa. Her storyline and character can be the most mesmerizing of all, everyone in this show has a backstory and has a reason of actions, and live up to the consequences, this show definitely is more than it appeals, so go for it, try it out, you will not regret.
